EBRD offers €15 million for Tbilisi Solid Waste Project

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is offering €15 million to finance the improvement of the solid waste collection and management system in Georgia’s capital of Tbilisi.
The government of Georgia and the EBRD signed the loan agreement today.
The ‘Tbilisi Solid Waste Project’, which has a total estimated cost of €15 million, will require the procurement of the following goods, works and services:
- Waste collecting vehicles (rear loaded compactor vehicles);
- Upgrading existing waste transfer station;
- Rehabilitation of landfill leachate system.
So far the EBRD has financed over 200 projects in Georgia, worth about €3 billion.
Georgia’s capital of Tbilisi is hosting the 2018 European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Trade Finance Forum and 200 participants from 40 countries.
The EBRD and the EU are extending their support to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine to the total of almost €1.1 billion in credit lines and trade finance and €58.3 million in EU grants.
“Investors are really interested in Georgia”

Two existing landfills will soon be closed in Black Sea coastal cities of Batumi and Kobuleti and a new landfill will be opened in Tsetskhlauri, 45 km north of Batumi within the solid waste management project of Adjara.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has allocated €19 million for better waste management and disposal in western Georgia’s Black Sea region of Adjara, the Bank said on Monday.
