UK Minister for Europe says Georgia is a role model of democracy in the region

UK Minister for Europe Sir Alan Duncan told Georgian PM Mamuka Bakhtadze in Tbilisi today that Georgia is a role model for democracy and human rights protection in the region.
He praised the Georgian reforms and condemned Russia’s actions in the Georgian occupied regions.
Duncan touched upon recent developments in the village of Atotsi, where Russians have erected new barbed wire fences, and stated that the UK firmly supports Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The UK minster came to Tbilisi to open the fifth round of the annual strategic Wardrop Dialogue.
- Wardrop Strategic Dialogue brings together key elements of UK Georgia bilateral relations; from political, to defence and security, economic and trade ties and people-to-people relations.
- Each year, the two delegations talk about progress and discuss areas of future cooperation, the British Embassy to Georgia reports.
Bakhtadze praised the role of the dialogue in further enhancement of the Georgian-British ties.
the British Government reiterates its "full support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia” and to UN Security Council Resolution 1808 which reaffirms the commitment of all Member States to the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Georgia within its internationally recognised borders.

Georgian top officials have arrived in the UK to attend the Georgia-UK fourth session of dialogue, known as the Wardrop Dialogue, created to enhance ties between the two nations.
The Dialogue was opened today in London by Sir Alan Duncan, Minister of State for Europe and the Americas.
Georgia and Great Britain are stepping up cooperation to develop and improve the existing trade and economic relations both countries currently enjoy.

The newly appointed Minister of State for Europe and the Americas at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the United Kingdom, Christopher Pincher said the UK will remain Georgia’s important ally and supporter. Minister Pincher made the remarks during a phone conversation with the Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani earlier today. Minister Zalkaliani congratulated Christopher Pincher on becoming UK’s Minister of State.
UK Export Finance (UKEF), the UK's export credit agency, has increased the volume of market risk appetite to £3 billion for Georgia this year which is the total amount of risk exposure the agency be willing to support for new businesses in Georgia.
Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani and UK Minister for European Neighbourhood Wendy Morton have discussed how Georgia and the UK can strengthen their partnership in terms of defence, security, trade and culture.
