Georgia, Belarus hold intergovernmental economic commission

Georgia and Belarus have signed an intergovernmental economic commission protocol, which will serve as a roadmap for the realisation of socio-economic projects between the two countries.

The intergovernmental economic commission held in Belarus today discussed ways on how to boost trade between Georgia and Belarus by removing barriers and deepening cooperation in the the fields of transport and logistics. Heavy emphasis was placed on developing existing transport routes in Georgia, including sea ports.

Officials also discussed the idea of opening a Georgian products store in Belarus. The Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus said that the Belarusian people should have the option of buying high quality Georgian products.

Increasing the export of Georgian wine to Belarus was also discussed at the meeting.

Georgia’s Kakheti region and Minsk region of Belarus signed a deal on bilateral commercial-economic and social-cultural activities for the years 2018-2019.
