Tamaz Tamazashvili is the best sommelier in Georgia, reveals the competition ‘Best Sommelier of Georgia – 2018’ which has been held in the country for the first time.
The competition crowned the Georgian Wine Week which was held on October 5-21 in the Georgian cities of Tbilisi, Telavi, Marneuli and Gurjaani and hosted various wine events.
In total 10 sommeliers participated in the competition which was judged by Georgian as well as foreigner experts.
The winner was awarded the Cup of “Best Sommelier of Georgia”, as well as special prizes and presents of different wine producers.
In March 2019 the Best Sommelier of Georgia - 2018 will travel to Belgium, where he will compete in the name of Georgia at the Best Sommelier of the World Competition.
Georgia exported about 60 million bottles of wine to 53 countries in the first nine months of 2018, announces the Georgian National Wine Agency.
American master of wine Lisa Granik is visiting Georgia together with US sommeliers, exploring the country’s rich wine history and culture in the regions of Kartli and Kakheti.
New amber and red Georgian wines will be presented at the Oxford Wine Festival, which will be held on September 7-8 in the United Kingdom.
Famous US magazine "Food and Wine” will publish an article about Georgian wine, wine culture and traditions in its October 2018 issue.
