Austrian Ambassador to Georgia Arad Benko says that the efforts of the Georgian Dream government to transform the country into a regional, financial, logistic, trade and tourism hub are successful.
Benko stated during his meeting with Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze today that the Georgian government is taking steps to fully use the country’s strategic, geopolitical location.
Benko and Bakhtadze also discussed Georgian-Austrian relations, Georgia's European integration process, the reforms carried out in Georgia, the country’s “positive business environment”, and Austrian companies' “growing investment interest in Georgia.”
Benko also noted that the opening of the Austrian Embassy in Tbilisi in 2016 further enhanced Georgian-Austrian ties.
Bakhtadze and Benko spoke about the situation in the Georgian occupied regions as well.
Georgia has appointed new ambassadors to four countries: Turkey, Jordan, Latvia and Austria.
President of Austria Heinz Fischer is coming to Tbilisi today. An official welcoming ceremony for the Austrian President and First Lady will take place at Giorgi Margvelashvili’s presidential residence in Avlabari, Tbilisi.
Georgia and Austria are intensifying their relations in all fields, especially in agriculture and environment protection. The presidents of the two countries met and discussed bilateral collaboration issues in Tbilisi today.
Georgia believes the president of Austria's visit to Tbilisi is a "clear demonstration of support” in the run-up to the Riga Eastern Partnership (EaP) Summit.
