PM Bakhtadze continues meetings in US

Prime Minister of Georgia Mamuka Bakhtadze has held meetings with USAID Administrator Mark Green and the vice president and foreign policy experts of the American Enterprise Institute yesterday.

Georgia is one of the most successful partners of USAID given its outstanding democratic transformation, the PM’s office reported USAID as saying.

The parties discussed projects that are supported by USAID in Georgia and the possibility of deepening cooperation in the field of education which is among the top priorities for the Georgian government.

USAID has provided more than 1.5 billion USD financing for Georgia so far to promote economic growth, the development of democratic institutions, improve energy security and education, ensure the involvement of IDPs and people living alongside the occupation line in the country’s economic life.

Georgia’s foreign policy priorities and strategic partnership with the US were discussed at a meeting with the Senior Vice President of Foreign and Defense Policy Studies at the American Enterprise Institute Danielle Pletka and other foreign policy experts.

The progress of Georgia on the way towards Euro-Atlantic integration was also touched upon, as well as the country’s economic and democratic transformation.

The parties also discussed the situation in the Russian occupied regions of Georgia and relations with Russia.
