2017 data: Georgia’s hospitality sector offers 30,657 rooms

In Georgia 1,595 hotels were operating in 2017 featuring 30,657 rooms in total, official statistics from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat) show.
 
Last year 2,220 rooms were added to Georgia’s hospitality sector. Of these:
  • 3,029 were suites
  • 4,007 were single rooms
  • 17,543 were double rooms
  • 6,078 were triple rooms or larger
The number of visitors in hotels and hotel type enterprises reached 1,026,260 in 2017 of which:
  • 577,616 people stayed for recreation and rest       
  • 324,035 – for business trips
  • 23,070 – for treatment     
  • 101,542 - other purpose     
Last year 241,196 people from the European Union stayed at hotels in Georgia, 857,152 – from the Commonwealth of Independent States and 1,256,926 from other countries.
 
The number of people employed at the hotels reached 17,591 of which 10,009 were women.
 
Overall, Georgia hosted 7,554,936 international visitors (tourists, transit, other) in 2017, which was a 18.8 percent increase year-on-year (y/y). As for tourists alone, last year Georgia hosted 3,478,932 tourists (+27.9 percent).
