Georgia celebrated the Independence Day of Columbia on August 1 by opening an Honorary Consulate of Columbia in the country.
Colombian Independence Day was marked at a celebratory reception, where Ambassador of Colombia to Georgia Juan Alfredo Pinto Saavedra and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Khatuna Totladze delivered speeches.
In her speech, Totladze emphasised the 20-year-long friendly relations with Colombia.

In order to further tighten ties between Georgia and Colombia Totladze put forward the idea to launch visa-free travel between the countries.
Also, she said that new consulate that opened yesterday in Tbilisi would promote cultural, economic and educational cooperation between Georgia and Colombia.
