Investigation Service of Ministry of Finance has prevented two attempts to transport undeclared transit goods through Georgian customs service.
Two individuals have been charged.
"One of the accused has declared that the goods being transited from UAE through Poti sea port were 11,250 kilograms of milk powder. However, a study showed that the offender was trying to transit proteins worth 773,190 GEL [about 316,000 USD],” investigators said.
The second individual, driving via Sarpi customs service, has tried to import different types of undeclared textile goods worth 63,988 GEL [about 26,000 USD].
The offenders may face imprisonment from five to seven years.
