Russia’s 4th Infantry Brigade is conducting military drills in Georgia’s occupied Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) region.

More than 2,500 soldiers, both from Russia and the region, and 500 military techniques are involved in the exercise, de facto Defence Ministry of Tskhinvali says.

The de facto Defence Ministry reports that such drills improve the knowledge and skills of soldiers.

Russia recognised Georgian regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali as independent republics after the Russia-Georgia 2008 war.

The same has been done by only Nicaragua, Venezuela, Nauru and Syria.

The rest of the international community condemns Russia’s occupation of the Georgian territories and call upon Russia to withdraw its forces from historic Georgian lands.
