Cinema items exhibition to celebrate 110 years of Georgian film

If you are an enthusiast of cinema and history, an exhibition opening in Tbilisi later this month will have costumes, sketches and items from shooting locations of Georgian films on display.
Hosted at the Georgian Film studio, the four-day showcase will aim to mark 110 years of Georgian cinema.
Equipment, accessories, weapons and other items worn or used by actors in productions throughout decades will go on display.

These exhibits will be complemented by sketches for fiction and animation films and photographs taken at filming locations.
Filming and audio equipment as well as cinema posters will complete the range of material selected for the celebration.
Among the exhibits will be a Mauser pistol produced in Germany in 1896 and used in TV series Data Tutashkhia, and a costume from filmmaker Rezo Chkheidze’s 1989 series The Life of Don Quixote and Sancho.

The history of Georgian cinema dates back to the late 1900s, when director Vasil Amashukeli produced films in South Caucasus.
Amashukeli’s 1912 documentary Akaki Tsereteli's Trip to Racha and Lechkumi is the earliest preserved example of cinema production in Georgia.
