Some of the crucial military hardware of the Georgian armed forces is being exhibited for the public on Tbilisi’s Freedom Square, as the country is celebrating its Independence Day and centennial since the establishment of the First Democratic Republic of Georgia today.
The newly purchased portable anti-tank Javelin system, obtained by Georgia’s defence ministry from its US partners earlier this year, is among the armaments and vehicles on display in the capital.
Among the military hardware on the square is the MaxxPro MRAP (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected) vehicle, the DANA self-propelled artillery piece and the LAR-160 and RM-70 multiple rocket launchers.

Selected military exhibits will also be displayed for locals in cities including Telavi in the east and Kutaisi and Batumi in the west.
The exhibition of the hardware is part of the armed forces’ participation in today’s celebrations, with new recruits also taking their oath of allegiance to the state.
