Georgia PM: We never refrain from communication with our youth

The Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili has stated that there is no wall between the current Georgian leadership and the people and that his government never refrains from communication with the country’s youth.
The PM referred to the rally on Rustaveli Avenue on May 12-13, following the police anti-drug raids in clubs.
It is also very important to state that out police has done its utmost to protect the safety of our citizens, of the protesters. We have seen the police which served the Georgian people and not a particular political force,” the PM said.
Kvirikashvili said that the majority of the protesters also enabled police to carry out their duties.
When it comes to the drug police, we have promised that a relevant draft will be presented in parliament soon, which will make the current law more liberal to drug users, while tougher measures will be taken against drug dealers,” Kvirikashvili said.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the protesters agreed yesterday that the state should have a tough approach to the sale of drugs.
The Georgian Interior Minister Giorgi Gakharia stated today after his meeting with the organisers of the large-scale rally on Rustaveli Avenue on 12-13 May that an agreement has been achieved on a "top issue.” The minister stated that the raid in nightclubs on May 12 came after 48 cases of drug intoxication of clubbers over the past two weeks.
A peaceful resolution of possible confrontation between the two groups came after a more than one hour meeting between the Minister of Internal Affairs accompanied by Tbilisi Mayor and the White Noise Movement leaders inside the parliament building.
The central road is divided into two parts - one occupied by the White Noise Movement activists supporting drug policy liberalisation and criticizing the police raid of night clubs while the other group is made up of protesters headed by right-wing Georgian National Unity.
Hundreds of protesters have closed Rustaveli avenue in Tbilisi criticising police raid of the night clubs Bassiani and Cafe Gallery yesterday resulting in the detention of eight drug traffickers.
