Tbilisi State Conservatoire will host a charity concert of the Georgian pianist Davit Aladashvili on International Children’s Day on June 1.

The concert will be dedicated to the UNICEF Georgia’s recent social change campaign addressing stigmas against people with disabilities in Georgian society.

Launched in February of this year, the anti-stigma campaign, with its awareness-raising activities scheduled all around Georgia, aims to break down myths surrounding disabilities, teaching people how to better communicate with disabled children and showing them how to treat them with equality.

Those who attend the charity concert of the Georgian pianist next week will have opportunity to listen to music of Bach, Schuman, Beethoven, Liszt and Chopin. Para orchestra will also join Aladashvili to perform several compositions.

Aladashvili was the first Georgian student to be enrolled at the Juilliard musical school in New York in 2007 with support of Iavnana Charity Foundation. Since then he has performed at world famous venues as Carnegie Hall and La Scala.

Each year on June 1 countries around the world mark the International Day for Protection of Children. The day has been marked annually since 1950, with Tbilisi also hosting children-friendly activities in popular city parks and recreational zones.

The guests of the concert will receive information about the anti-stigma campaign, read the stories of those people who have special needs and break stereotypes about those living with certain disabilities. Photo form UNICEF Georgia/Facebook
