Georgia is a country oriented on European and Euro-Atlantic integration, Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili said at today’s event in the Rike Park in central Tbilisi celebrating the European Days 2017.

This political choice does not have an alternative because it is the choice that the Georgian society sets for those politicians that govern the country”, President Margvelashvili said.

Margvelashvili said Georgia is the leading Eastern Partnership country that makes the most courageous steps towards the European and Euro-Atlantic integration.

He thanked the Georgian Foreign Ministry, the State Ministry for European and Euro-Atlantic integration, Georgian ambassadors and European Union delegation to Georgia for making this political event into a public celebration.

EU Ambassador to Georgia Janos Herman said "today we are celebrating those new opportunities that exist between EU and Georgia”.

These are [the opportunities] of travelling, education, business, jobs. This is what we should be oriented on”, Herman said.

Georgia’s State Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Viktor Dolidze said Georgia has never been so close to the EU as it is today. He said even the visa liberalization for Georgians to the EU/Schengen Area is enough proof.

We realise well how many steps we still have to make in future. [And] I am absolutely sure in our victory and success”, Dolidze said.
