The European Union will allocate €32 million to support reform implementation and democratic development in Georgia.

The EU Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn, is in Tbilisi today where he is holding meetings with local leaders.

As part of his visit, the EU Commissioner and Georgia’s State Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Viktor Dolidze signed the Technical Cooperation Facility, a document which will see Georgia receive €32 million to help implement its Association Agreement with the EU.

The EU Commissioner wrote on Twitter that the meeting was "excellent” and he congratulated Kvirikashvili for his country showing "frontrunning performance in all areas”.

The pair discussed Georgia's expectations for the upcoming Eastern Partnership Summit and Kvirikashvili said he hoped that the summit would help deepen EU-Georgia cooperation.

European School

Hahn and Kvirikashvili discussed a new educational project that aims to open a European School in Tbilisi. The European School is a joint project of Georgia and the EU and it will offer high-quality education to students from all over the Eastern Partnership states. Kvirikashvili said the school will open in next September.

In Hahn words, the European School will teach in English and its students will receive internationally recognised certificates.

The Commissioner said that the European School is an "ambitious pilot project” and Georgia is the best place to launch it.

Hahn will stay in Georgia until May 6.
