A father and a son from Georgia’s western region of Samegrelo have been kidnapped by Russian occupation forces last night.
Archil Rogava, 59 and his son Paata, 25 are from the conflict-affected Rike village in Zugdidi municipality, close to the occupation line.
The witnesses say the Russian occupants detained the Rogavas at the Enguri River, near Russian occupied region of Georgia - Abkhazia.
Based on the preliminary information, the two were looking for their lost horse.
The family was informed today that the father and a son are in separate jails and are asking for support.
State Security Service said the father and a son have been detained for allegedly crossing the so-called border. However, they said everything is being done to release the illegal detainees.
The illegal detention of Georgian citizens by Russian guards is a common issue near the occupation line. Detainees are usually released once their family pays a fine.
