New ski lifts connect centre of Svaneti with winter ski zone

Georgian and foreign snowboarders, skiers and other enthusiasts can now hit the slopes in Georgia’s winter resort of Svaneti with the help of brand new ski lifts.
1,200m Mestia-Hatsvali ski lifts connecting Hatsvali skiing zone with the centre of Mestia officially opened today offering hot drinks and music to visitors of the winter ski zone.

Construction of Mestia-Hatsvali ski lifts started this summer. Six-seat open lifts have been produced by Doppelmayr – one of the world’s quality, technology and market leaders in ropeway engineering.
The winter season opened in all Georgian ski resorts Gudauri, Bakuriani, Svaneti and Goderdzi:
- On December 10 in Gudauri and Goderdzi;
- On December 12 in Didveli;
- On December 17 in Hatsvali-Tetnuldi;
Today it also kicks off in the Kokhta-Mitarbi areas of Bakuriani.
Following Gudauri and Bakuriani, now the snow season has officially kicked off in Hatsvali and Tetnuldi - modern sports and recreational destinations in Georgia’s western region of Svaneti.
The snow season is gradually opening in all winter resorts of Georgia, inviting winter enthusiasts across Georgia and from foreign countries to hit the slopes of Gudauri, Bakuriani, Svaneti and Goderdzi.

Skiing and enjoying the snow at Georgia's winter resorts will be better this year and ever before thanks to a huge effort by the Georgian Government to provide a range of new infrastructure and facilities for guests.
Austrian firm Wucher Helikopter and German HTM Helicopter Travel Munich GmbH will operate heli-skiing flights in Georgia’s winter resorts.
Snowboarders, skiers and winter enthusiasts across Georgia and from foreign countries are invited to celebrate World Snow Day in Georgia’s winter resorts of Gudauri, Bakuriani, Svaneti and Goderdzi today.
Project details were discussed by the Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and the world renowned mountaineer Reinhold Messner today. According to PM Kvirikashvili, the building of the museum will be open from all sides so the visitors will have possibility to see the mountain views from any point.
