PM introduces Cabinet nominees to Parliament for vote of confidence

Georgia’s Parliament is discussing whether or not approve the renewed Cabinet today.

An extraordinary parliamentary meeting started at 12 pm.

The discussion will be followed by a vote where lawmakers will or will not give confidence to the renewed Cabinet of Ministers.

A vote of confidence from Parliament for the government became needed after a major reshuffle took place in November and several ministers were replaced.

The schedule for today is as the following:

  • Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili will address lawmakers and talk about his governmental program. This will be followed by a question-and-answer session.
  • Heads of committees and factions as well as individual lawmakers will deliver speeches.
  • The Prime Minister will have the opportunity to sum up the discussion and deliver his final speech.
  • An actual vote will take place to decide whether or not to support the renewed Cabinet.

Yesterday was also a busy day, where the Prime Minister and Ministers spoke at committee and faction hearings.
