The United States will help Georgia investigate the case in which an anti-terror operation was held to neutralise suspected terrorists in Tbilisi last week.
The head of the State Security service of Georgia, Vakhtang Gomelauri announced the news today, telling journalists that "our strategic partner, the US has got engaged in the process of investigation”.
"They have stronger and more experienced services than us. We will carry out the investigation together”, Gomelauri said.
US Ambassador to Georgia Ian Kelly told journalists that it was the US who offered its "technical assistance” to Georgia.
He said FBI experts will be involved in the investigation because "it is important to investigate this case together as it has to do with international terrorism”.
"Georgia is our partner. Of course, we are ready to provide Georgia with any kind of help”, Kelly said.
One suspected terrorist was arrested and three killed during the anti-terrorist operation on Gabriel Salosi Street in Tbilisi on November 22.
Once officer was killed and four other were injured in the shoot-out that lasted about 22 hours.
