Georgia’s Geno Petriashvili wins gold at U23 World Wrestling Championship

Georgian freestyle wrestler Geno Petriashvili has won the gold medal at the Under 23 Wrestling World Championship that took place in Bydgoszcz, Poland last night.

Defeating his Russian opponents Magomedamin Dibirov in the final strike, Petriashvili stormed out to a 5-0 lead at the break and ended the match with a takedown and two gut wrenches for an 11-0 win.

Petriashvili, who recently stood atop the podium at the 2017 Senior World Championships in Paris France, in August, put together an impressive performance on Saturday, racking up four technical falls to win the 125 kg bracket”, The official webpage of the United World Wrestling said.

Another Georgian freestyle wrestler Irakli Mtsituri took bronze in a 86kg category.

Launched on November 21, the tournament features competitors from across the world in Freestyle and Greco-Roman disciplines.
