Illegal borderisation by Russia in focus of talk between Georgian President and EU envoy

Erecting new artificial barricades by the Russian occupation forces in Georgian villages across the occupation line was in focus of today’s meeting between Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili and the European Union’s (EU) newly appointed Special Representative for the South Caucasus, Toivo Klaar.
The occupation forces started erecting the new obstacles across the villages of Koda and Chvrinisi near the occupied Tskhinvali region last month and the process is still continuing.
"The process of erecting artificial obstacles greatly affects the everyday life of local residents and brings negative results in terms of security as well”, Margvelashvili said.

Klaar called today’s meeting "productive” and said that the pair discussed what the EU and its special representative can do to settle the tense situation in both Russian occupied regions of Georgia – Abkhazia and Tskhinvali (South Ossetia).
Today, Georgia’s State Security service said that erecting new artificial barricades across the Koda-Chvrinis segment is the "continuation of the so-called illegal borderisation process” by the Russian occupation forces.
