Georgia and Belarus discuss new joint projects

The commercial-economic relations of Georgia and Belarus were the main topic of discussion at today’s meeting between Georgia’s Economy Minister Dimitry Kumsishvili and Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Rusyi in Tbilisi.

At the meeting Kumsishvili talked about the current economic situation in Georgia and the Government’s four-point reform agenda that aims to further improve the environment of the country.

The meeting also focused on joint projects, including the importation and installation of lifts produced in Belarus and the prospect of producing lifts in Georgia as well.

Kumsishvili and Rusyi positively assessed the work of a recently established trade-economic group the results of which are already reflected by positive economic indicators, announced Georgia’s Ministry of Economy.

In the first nine months of 2017 trade turnover between the countries increased by 24 percent, export – by 50 percent.

Tourism ties also deepened between Georgia and Belarus. In the first 10 months of 2017 Georgia hosted 28 percent more Belarusian tourists compared to same period of 2016.
