Georgian Parliament Speaker visits Israel

Georgian Parliament Speaker Irakli Kobakhidze is paying an official visit to Israel.
Kobakhidze had his first meeting with Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely.
"The sides discussed the future perspectives of intensifying the existing friendly relations and partnership in different directions”, parliament’s press office said in a release.
The meeting stressed the importance of deepening people-to-people contacts and relations in economy, education, culture and tourism.
While in Israel, Kobakhidze is also scheduled to meet with the Israeli president, speaker of Israeli parliament and other officials.
The visit is assessed as an important step in Georgia-Israel relations.
"Israel is a stable partner of ours and this visit serves to strengthen these relations”, said head of the Georgian Parliamentary Majority Archil Talakvadze.
Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili met Georgian Jews in Israel yesterday and stressed the two nations have not only biggest emotional unity, but also common strategic interests.
Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu believes Georgia and Israel, "two brotherly nations”, have a great future despite the fact they are small nations.
Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili is visiting Israel today and tomorrow.The business trip will be launched by a meeting between Kvirikashvili and Prime Minister of the State of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu, after the two officials will make joint statements before the media.

The Georgian embassy in Israel has addressed Georgian citizens living in the country amid current tension between Israel and Palestine.
