Georgia’s Oscar-nominated director Zaza Urushadze is premiering his latest feature The Confession at the Warsaw International Film Festival today.
Urushadze’s drama about a priest encountering a beautiful local woman in a small village community is in the International Competition of the festival’s 33th edition.
With a cast led by Dimitri Tatishvili, Sophia Sebiskveradze and Joseph Khvelidze, the work will follow Giorgi, a priest and former filmmaker arriving to a small village parish he is to serve.
Opening the doors of a village church for film screenings, he hears the villagers compare Marilyn Monroe in Some Like it Hot to a local woman during one cinema session.
Father Giorgi later meets the woman in question himself, and sees his devout service tested by her attractiveness.

The Confession is produced by Urushadze and Estonian producer Ivo Felt — a continuation of the collaboration on Tangerines, the Georgian filmmaker’s 2013 Oscar-nominated film.
Parallel to the post-premiere Warsaw screenings, the film will also be seen by visitors of the Chicago International Film Festival on October 15 and 16.
The Warsaw festival is scheduled to run from October 13-22.
