Farmers from Kakheti region receive 76 mln GEL income from grape harvest

Farmers from Georgia’s eastern Kakheti region, famous for its ancient tradition of winemaking, have received 76.6 million GEL (31 mln USD) through selling their grapes to wineries, official figures read.

The figures are for today and the income is expected to rise as the harvesting period has not been completed yet.

 65.000 tons of grapes have been processed in the region.

  • 28,5 thousand tons of Rkatsiteli.
  • 32,000 tons of Saperavi.
  • 2,000 tons of Kakhuri Mtsvane.

100 wineries are involved in the grape processing. The total amount of the vineries registered to process grapes is 200.
