Georgia has denounced the recent launch of a ballistic missile by North Korea.
The Georgian Foreign Ministry issued a statement condemning the move.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia expresses its deep concern over the DPRK’s (Democratic People's Republic of Korea) violation of a number of international obligations and relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and condemns still the test-firing of ballistic missile by Pyongyang, on August 29, 2017”, the Ministry said.
"As a member state of the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty and Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty, Georgia opposes any action contradicting international nonproliferation efforts and posing a threat to the security and stability of the region”, the statement added.
North Korea has fired a missile over Japan's Hokkaido region, sending residents running for cover, BBC reported.
The missile, which landed in the waters off Japan's eastern coast, is thought to be the first nuclear-weapon capable ballistic missile the North has ever sent over the country.
North Korea watchers say this could be its most provocative act yet.
