58 eco-migrant families receive homes in Black Sea town of Batumi

About 58 families who moved away from their home areas due to landslide risk, earthquakes or other natural disasters are the happy owners of new apartments in Georgia’s Black Sea resort town of Batumi.
These people are known as eco-migrants and today they were granted ownership rights to apartments by the Governmental Commission.
A Social House that is located in Tamari settlement in Batumi has 10 floors and 58 flats.
The Ministry of Finance and Economy of Adjara financed the construction of the House with 3 million GEL.
The works began in 2015 and were completed in 2016.
Since 2013, 447 eco-migrant families received homes in Adjara.
Meanwhile, since 2016 in total 150 eco-migrant families received financial support of about 25,000 GEL for purchasing the flats.
In total 11 Social Houses have been built and rehabilitated in Adjara since 2013.
Georgia’s Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons, Accommodation and Refugees has made a decision to buy flats for internally displaced families who live in wrecked or buildings of strategic importance.
More than 10,000 Georgian people displaced by conflict and violence and forced to live in collective centres are benefiting from improved living conditions.
Georgia’s internally displaced persons (IDPs) will be granted one-time financial assistance from the Government this winter to help them pay their gas and power bills.
Hundreds of Georgian people displaced by conflict and violence who live in collective centres have been gifted apartments in their name for symbolic price of one GEL.
Government of Georgia has legalized houses and agricultural lands to about 200 eco-migrant families in Tsalka municipality of the eastern Kvemo Kartli region.
About 250 internally displaced families from the Russian-occupied regions of Georgia – Abkhazia and Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) – will move to brand new apartments soon.
