Traffic has been resumed in the Dariali Gorge in northern Georgia and the Kazbegi Customs checkpoint has continued all operations, announces the Revenue Service of Georgia’s Ministry of Finance.

Due to the complicated meteorological situation in Dariali Gorge the Kazbegi Customs checkpoint at Georgia-Russia border was evacuated yesterday and the roads were also closed.

Also, the 134-135 km road section of the Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Larsi road was closed to all vehicles and pedestrians due to the weather situation.

Georgia’s Road Department said that the early warning system installed in the Amali-Devdoraki Gorge had sent a signal about a possible torrent in the Gorge after which people were evacuated from the Kazbegi checkpoint and nearby roads.

The Road Department also said that the Russian Customs Service was also notified about the situation.
