A five-magnitude storm is forecast today for one of the largest port cities of the Black Sea, Batumi.
Weather specialists warn that intense snowing is expected in the city, while there is an avalanche threat in the mountains of the Adjara region.
It has been heavily snowing in Batumi since January 27. Locals said last night that a snow cover had reached 15-20 cantimeres in some areas of Adjara.
Bad weather in the west of Georgia caused flight delays at Batumi International Airport, where Batumi-Istanbul and Batumi-Moscow flights were postponed until the weather gets better.
A heavy snowfall hit capital Tbilisi, too. However, road-cleaners working around the clock meant no traffic restrictions were imposed.
