Georgia’s top defence official is initiating a Nordic-Baltic-Georgian Forum to respond to the common challenges and bolster contribution to the Euro-Atlantic security.

Defence Minister Levan Izoria voiced this initiative as he met his Estonian counterpart Margus Tsahkna in Tallinn yesterday.

The pair discussed defence cooperation between the two nations and Tsahkna said "Estonia supports Georgia's territorial integrity unconditionally”.

The discussions focused on engaging Georgia in the cooperation format between the Baltic and Scandinavian states.

"Nordic-Baltic and Georgia is a very important cooperation format. Estonia will support this idea and I think practical activities and decisions need to be made to make this idea a success”, the Estonian Minister said.

Tsahkna reconfirmed Estonia’s full support for Georgia in the process of Euro-Atlantic integration. He said that the Estonian side is interested in deepening cooperation between Georgia and NATO.

He stressed that Estonia keeps asking questions at the international arena about Georgia’s occupation.

"We’re obliged to remind everyone that Russia still causes problems to Georgia’s territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders”, he said.

On January 26 Izoria visited the Estonian city of Tartu, where he met Georgian students of the Baltic Defence Collage.

Georgia’s top defence official is paying a three-day official visit to the Scandinavian and Baltic states. Izoria is expected to return home later today.
