The US Congress, both the Senate and the House of Representative, passed a bill which imposes new sanctions on Russia, Iran and North Korea for their destructive actions.
The bill passed this week, and now must be sent to President Trump for signing; highlights Russia’s illegal activities on Georgian soil, in Ukraine and in Moldova.
US lawmakers believe that America should continue close cooperation with the EU, as with a partner, against the Russian aggression, coordinate assisting programs and provide other efforts against Russian actions.
New sanctions against Iran and its Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which stands accused of supporting "terrorism"; and North Korea, for its missile tests, are also included in the bill.
Foreign media reports that Trump is expected to have to sign it because of the strong backing it from the Congress, allegedly at the end of the month.
The Senate passed the sanctions package with an overwhelming bipartisan majority, 97-2, yesterday.
The House of Representatives passed the sanctions package Tuesday in a 419-3 vote, sending the legislation to the Senate.
