Georgia has joined in the celebrations of Chinese New Year – the year of the Rooster – which begins tomorrow on January 28.
A special reception hosted by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China to Georgia in Hualing-Tbilisi Sea New City was held yesterday, ringing in the Chinese New Year and Spring Festival one day in advance.
Chinese and Georgian government officials and members of the Georgian-Chinese business community attended the reception yesterday. Guests were greeted by Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze and the Chinese Ambassador to Georgia, Ji Yanchi.
Janelidze wished the Chinese people a happy New Year and Spring Festival, and called for the intensification of partner relations between the two countries.
The minister said China was one of the largest investors in Georgia and was among the country’s top three trade partners.
New Year celebrations will begin in China today, with festivities ending on February 2.
