New 34-room hotel opens in eastern Georgia

A new 34-room hotel has opened today in the village of Sno in the eastern Georgian region of Kazbegi.

Sno is the village where the country’s Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II was born. Construction of the hotel has been financed from the patriarchate’s contributions.

Blessing the audience today Ilia II said this is a very important region as it protects Georgia from the north.

He said this hotel has not been built for benefit, but rather for contributing to the region’s development.

Attending the opening ceremony, Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili called it symbolic that the hotel is located exactly in the village of Ilia II, because all its income will go for development of the village and welfare of its people.

Prime Minister Kvirikashvili said when the construction of Kobi-Gudauri ropeway will finish next year it will make Sno and the entire region a winter’s resort.
