Every family in Georgia will be able to install small scale renewable power generators and generate electricity for themselves.

The initiative was announced today at the presentation of "Net Metering Regulation in Georgia”, which was attended by Georgia’s Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze.

Following the Regulation families who install small scale renewable power generators on the territory of their homes will be able to consume generated electricity. But if the generated electricity will not be fully consumed the consumer will have to send it to the net metering network. In this case the consumer will be compensated for delivering the electricity.

The net metering network is first of all a demonstration of mutual beneficial communication between the state and its citizens. On the other hand it is modern, European style of life, thinking and earning income,” said Kaladze.

In his words the energy development has reached such a level in Georgia that now the renewable energy is not luxurious in the country, but affordable and beneficial for the citizens.
