Tbilisi Transport Agency plans to introduce several regulations for taxi drivers starting in 2018 that will ensure the safety of passengers.
Taxi drivers will have an obligation to have a special "information board” in their transport, which will identify the driver, their contact information, whether they belong to a taxi company and other bits of information.
The presence of the information board in the taxi will be a signal that the driver had undergone a health check and his vehicle is technically safe,” Head of Tbilisi Transport Agency Mamuka Mumladze told local Kviris Palitra newspaper.
Mumladze stated that introducing of the board would be the "first stage”, a "painless stage” of a reform in terms of the taxi service, which has never been regulated in Georgia.
If a taxi driver will not have the special board in the car it means he/she has no right to carry out the activity.
