Prosecutor’s Office charges man for cruelty to animal

Georgia’s Chief Prosecutor’s Office has released a statement which says they charged a man for cruelty to animal and demanded GEL 5000 [2,077 USD] bail as a measure of constraint.  

The Office says that on June 16, 2017, a man only identified as S.Z. stroke a dog several times with a stick which had a pointed metal item (nail) attached to it, in the yard located at 6, Beritashvili str, town Rustavi. 

S.Z.’s cruelty to the animal resulted in its death. 

Investigation into the case is still in progress under Article 259§1 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages a fine only, or a corrective labour for a term up to a year as a penalty.
