Prosecutor’s Office returns illegally-seized helicopters and planes to ex-owners

Georgia’s Chief Prosecutor's Office has returned 13 illegally-seized helicopters and two planes to their former owners today.

The Office announced the property was illegally seized by the previous United National Movement leadership in the spring of 2012.

FLY ADJARA was deprived of its 10 EXEC162F helicopters and L.T.D. Aviator of its Comp Air 8 and Comp Air 10 planes, as well as three EXEC162F helicopters by former high-ranking Defence Ministry officials, the Prosecutor’s Office said.

The Office informed that the officials, who have not been identified in the official statement, sent cranes and trucks to the western Georgian city of Batumi, where the planes and helicopters were stationed and unlawfully transported them to capital Tbilisi.

The Prosecutor’s Office stressed the former officials involved in the crime would be held accountable.
