Georgia’s President Giorgi Margvelashvili has awarded a top United States (US) and North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) military official with one of the highest state awards for his special contribution to Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic integration.
US Air Force General Philip Breedlove, who also serves as a Commander of the NATO Supreme Allied Command Europe, was awarded the Order of the Golden Fleece by Georgia’s President Giorgi Margvelashvili.
After arriving in Georgia yesterday afternoon Commander Breedlove held his first meeting with President Margvelashvili.
Today we host a friend who many times reiterated his support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” said Georgia’s President.

General Breedlove’s role was decisive for fruitful military cooperation between Georgia and NATO,” the President added.
Today Breedlove will meet Georgia’s Minister of Defence Tinatin Khidasheli and other military officials before departing later this evening.
