Today Georgia unveiled a special memorial dedicated to Georgian soldiers who had died in various peacekeeping missions while serving their country and protecting world peace and security.

The memorial was opened at Krtsanisi Joint Training and Evaluation Centre, near capital Tbilisi late this afternoon.

Georgia’s Acting Minister of Defence Levan Izoria and newly-appointed Chief of General Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces (GAF), Brigadier General Vladimer Chachibaia, unveiled the memorial.

Our existence has meaning if we respect the heroism Georgian soldiers showed when serving their state,” Izoria said.

The Minister thanked all Georgian soldiers who served their country to protect international peace, and those who were currently on duty abroad. He also expressed sincere gratitude to soldiers' families.
