New Art Palace opens in western Guria region

More than two million GEL was invested in a new high-class Art Palace in western Chokhatauri municipality in western Guria region to build a new public theatre and cultural centre.

Today Acting Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili visited the recently completed Art Palace along with central and local officials to officially open the new function centre. The central room of the complex can host 350 people. 

Kvirikashvili explained construction of the state-of-the-art facility cost about 2.5 million GEL.

The new cultural centre was equipped with modern lightning and sound systems, and provided opportunities to hold various events. 

At the official opening of the Art Palace, Kvirikashvili stressed the new facility would encourage people of the region, especially the younger generation's young cultural development and activeness.

Building this Art Palace was planned in the 1970s but since then the site had turned into ruins. The new Art Palace is a great gift for the locals of Chokhatauri and the whole Guria region.

Children will come here often and attend different performances; the the showing of movies will also be possible. It is also very important that families who left the municipality will return over summer as there will be a facility that can now provide good cultural opportunities for their children,” Kvirikashvili stated. 

About 100 locals were employed during the construction of the new Art Palace.
