Georgia’s President awards Medal of Honour to two female religious figureheads

Two female religious figureheads have today been awarded a prestigious Medal of Honour for their efforts to promote tolerance, charity work and enhancing dialogue.

Today President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili presented the Medal of Honour to Rusudan Gotsiridze, Bishop of the Evangelical-Baptist Church in Georgia and Mother of Georgia’s southern Poka Monastery, Elisabeth (Meskhishvili).

The awards ceremony was held within the Week of Tolerance in Georgia. 

Gotsiridze, who received the award for tolerance, charity and enhancing dialogue between different confessions, said the appreciation was pleasant and highlighted the importance of supporting religious and ethnic minorities living in Georgia.

Mother Elisabeth received the medal for tolerance, charity and enhancing dialogue between nations. 

Also today the President hosted representatives of ethnic minorities living Georgia at the Presidential Palace in Avlabari district and discussed their needs with them.

Furthermore, the Administration of the President of Georgia presented a special information brochure about the projects financed through the President’s reserve fund.
