Georgia is cementing its place as a business-friendly country after being recognised as one of the top 10 global improvers for implementing reforms to their business regulations.

The World Economic Forum published a video on its official Facebook page that indicates the top 10 best places to start a business.

The video said Georgia had risen two places since last year’s rankings and was now among the top 10 global improver countries.

The list of top ten countries where it is the easiest to start a business included two of Georgia’s neighbouring countries Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The World Economic Forum said Armenia was the only "lower middle income" economy to make the top ten, while Azerbaijan was distinguished for its possibility to start a business entirely online.

These are the best places to start a business:

  1. New Zealand
  2. Canada
  3. Hong Kong
  4. Macedonia
  5. Azerbaijan
  6. Singapore
  7. Australia
  8. Georgia
  9. Armenia
  10. Ireland

The ranking was based on findings of the Doing Business Index which is a World Bank Group flagship report that investigates the regulations that enhance business activities and those that constrain it.

The latest Doing Business report showed Georgia had improved its position by seven points, from 23rd position to 16th, year-on-year. The country received a ranking of 16 among 190 economies in the Doing Business 2017: Equal Opportunity for All report, released on October 25.
