Ruling party member awarded Most Excellent Order of British Empire

Member of the ruling Georgian Dream-Democratic Georgia party, Sophie Katsarava, has become a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) with an ordination of  Queen Elizabeth II for her efforts to enhance Georgia-United Kingdom relations. 

The awards ceremony was held yesterday at the British Embassy to Georgia and was attended by Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and other state officials. 

The MBE was awarded to Katsarava by British Ambassador to Georgia Justin McKenzie Smith.

When presenting the award the Ambassador said: "Sophie has been awarded the MBE on merit for her exceptional achievements during her 11 year-long service at the British Embassy, for her efforts leading to the advancement of relations between Georgia and UK in the education sector.”

At the awards ceremony PM Kvirikashvili addressed the audience and congratulated Katsarava on the significant award.  

I am grateful to all the British Ambassadors who served in Georgia at different times, who appreciated Sophie's work and my special thanks go to Alexandra Hall Hall, former British Ambassador to Georgia, and great friend of our country. Also, let me thank you, Your Excellency, for hosting this fabulous event,” Kvirikashvili said. 

Kvirikashvili stressed every member of the ruling party was confident that Katsarava’s service in the next Parliament of Georgia would be equally remarkable as her service with the British Embassy.
