Georgia’s law enforcers found and seized an extremely large amount of ammunition, military weapons and explosive materials from several locations in Georgia, including the capital.

All explosives, weapons and ammunition were in working condition. The arms were discovered buried in the woods near Gori town and Norio village, (32km from Tbilisi) in eastern Georgia.

Weapons were also found at Saguramo (26km from Tbilisi) and in the surroundings of Mukhatgverdi cemetery in the capital city.

The ammunition, weapons and explosive materials were hidden between 2009 and 2011 [under the previous United National Movement government],” said Georgia's Internal Ministry’s press speaker at a special briefing this afternoon.

Police said the operation was conducted jointly by Georgia’s State Security Service (SSS) and the Chief Prosecutor’s Office.
