A $90 million USD investment in a new 5-star hotel residential and resort complex is supporting the hospitality boom in Georgia.

Euphoria Hotel officially opened in Batumi yesterday with a special ceremony attended by Georgian leadership and investors.

The 415-room Euphoria hotel is located in the new Batumi Boulevard, near the beach and a short walk from Era Square and Batumi University.

Georgia’s Prime Minister said the $90 million investment in the new luxury Metro City complex was important for Georgia and he believed the new hotel, which was part of the complex, would contribute to tourism development in coastal Batumi.

He personally thanked investor Galip Ozturk, founder of Metro Atlas Georgia, for undertaking a "sizeable investment” and donating to the Solidarity Fund of Georgia, which funds vital cancer treatment for young people in Georgia.

Metro Atlas Georgia is an investment management company founded in 2012 under the ownership of the brand Metro Holding, which has shares on Istanbul’s Stock Exchange in Turkey.

In total $90 million USD was invested in the huge resort complex that was built in Batumi. I would like to extend my gratitude to Mr. Galip Ozturk for this wonderful hotel,” said Kvirikashvili.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank him for his donation to the Solidarity Fund. This is crucially important to our country and already this aid has saved the lives of dozens of children,” he added.

Around 1,500 people were employed during the hotel’s construction and 600 people will be permanently employed now the hotel was operational.

This means 600 flourishing families. Local residents are employed at this tourist complex. This is a sizeable contribution to the economic development and social welfare of the local population,” Kvirikashvili said.

In his address Kvirikashvili spoke about the planned and ongoing reforms to develop the Adjara region, which focused on the tourism industry.

The Government of Adjara plans to implement some very interesting projects to develop the highland region. Construction of the Khulo-Adigeni Highway is planned and will launch in the coming days. The Batumi-Khulo road will be reconstructed so it meets top, European standards,” he said.
Goderdzi resort will also be developed. Several days ago construction of 150-suite hotel was launched there [and] numerous new projects are planned for Batumi including construction of hotel complexes and entertainment centres.”

Kvirikashvili said the Government of Georgia will continue encouraging tourism, since no other industry offered the same employment opportunities for locals as the tourism sector.
