Young creative thinkers in Georgia’s capital will soon enjoy a special workspace where they can develop their entrepreneurial talents and innovative potential.

In the near future a modern office space will open for innovators at the new Technology Park, meaning young businesspeople can enjoy a place to work without paying large overheads for an office space.

The decision to give budding creative thinkers a place to work was made today at the fourth meeting of Georgia’s Research and Innovation Council, initiated by the Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili, at the Government of Georgia Administration building in capital Tbilisi.

At the meeting the Prime Minister tasked the Council to develop an Action Plan of the Office and reveal it in one week’s time.

The Council and PM Kvirikashvili also discussed a package of amendments that will support innovative projects and intentions in Georgia.

The amendments aimed to increase financial support for innovative businesses that will lead to the establishment of new, innovative enterprises, production of products for export and creation of jobs.

At today’s meeting George Kenney, who is a Doctor of Science of the Massachusetts University, led a presentation about how Georgian scientific-technological innovations had the potential to be globally commercialised.

Kenney was actively involved in the commercialisation of innovation and research in the Massachusetts University. He also cofounded a material processing centre created with support from National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

Currently Kenney serves as the president of EntraTympanic – a medical innovation company.

Georgia’s Technology Park opened on January 11, 2016 in Okrokhana, in Tbilisi’s recreation area near Mtatsminda Park.

The new complex provided resources for start-up and small-sized companies that have not been accessible before. The facility will expected to play an important role in the creation of new companies, business development, commercialisation of innovations and creation of high-paid jobs.

The Technology Park will also give Georgia an opportunity to create local branches of international companies and attract foreign investments.
