The Government initiated International Education Centre of Georgia (IEC) has announced it will finance the overseas studies of 110 Georgian students who wish to receive a Master’s or Doctorate degree from leading foreign educational institutions.
The IEC was established in 2014 to encourage the country’s economic, social and democratic advancement by supporting high-level education.
Today the IEC announced its financing for the 2016-2017 academic year. The IEC will finance the education fees for 110 beneficiaries and/or their living expenses.
The IEC selected students who were studying in several areas the Government deemed a priority, such as agricultural sciences, education, engineering, science, social sciences, humanitarian sciences, law, architecture, public management and management.
The chosen students could continue their studies at universities or other leading institutions in Great Britain, the United States, Sweden, Germany, Italy, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Hungary, Estonia, the Netherland or Japan.
For students to be eligible for the IEC funding, the beneficiaries must return to Georgia and use their new found knowledge and experience to serve their home country.
Successful candidates were selected by a special group of experts from Georgia’s state bodies and international educational organisations.
Since 2014 the IEC has granted about 270 scholarships.
