Georgia’s Mariam Bolkvadze reaches doubles finals at Wimbledon

Rising Georgian tennis player Mariam Bolkvadze is through to the final day of action at Wimbledon 2016.

Wimbledon is widely considered as the most prestigious tennis tournament in the world and hosts a senior competition for women and men, and a junior competition for rising stars.

The 18-year-old Georgian player will play in the final match of the prestigious tournament's youth doubles section. She will be teamed up with Caty McNally of the United States (US).

In the semi-final, Bolkvadze and McNally defeated a Slovenian-Polish pair and were given the chance to play in the final.

Wimbledon - one of the four Grand Slam competitions - features the world’s best tennis players who compete annually on a grass surface at the All England Lawn Tennis Club in south-west London.

This year’s Wimbledon tournament runs from June 27-July 10.

Today No 3 Court will see the action begin at 11am (local time) with the boys doubles match, followed by the girls doubles final of Bolkvadze and McNally v Usue Maitane Arconada (US) and Claire Liu (US).
