Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) cares about the families of the Georgian law-enforcers who sacrificed their lives to ensuring the safety of the country citizens, as well as those visiting Georgia.
Today the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia Giorgi Mgebrishvili hosted 51 orphan children at Tbilisi Rustaveli Theatre to make the New Year holiday special for them.

The children had an opportunity to attend a beautiful performance of "Cinderella” by the Theatre staff and get memorable gifts from the high-ranking state official.

Together with the kids, who had suffered a painful loss of their loved parents, the Ministry also took a step to offer festive mood to the children of the whole Ministry staff.
Starting from January 3 until January 6 the Theatre will host at about 6,000 children whose parents are serving in the law-enforcement bodies.
Almost each year several policemen are either killed or wounded in fight with criminals and various illegalities.

The most notorious cases of the year were the one at Varketili Metro Station in the suburb of Tbilisi, where one police officer was killed and another heavily injured, and the most recent one occurred in eastern Telavi town in Kakheti region, when two police officers, one female among them, were shot dead with a hunting gun.
In each situations the Ministry and the state Government offer moral and material help to the families of the killed police officers, ensuring their accommodation in case of absence of such and significant financial support.
